Summary
The new City library for Hickory , North Carolina. Michael West assisted the City is evaluating over fifteen potential sites and facilitated numerous community involvement sessions in the site selection process. The selected site was located within the SALT block (Science, Art, Learning, and Theater) a cultural zone just outside the downtown area of Hickory. The library exterior was designed to complement the historic school structure within the block and faces the main entrance toward a green park area. The building is two stories with a central atrium that serves as a visual organization element for the library internal functions.
